Daniel L. Leyton joined the firm in 2000, after practicing in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Department of New York”s prestigious Proskauer Rose LLP. Since his arrival, Mr. Leyton has teamed with Mr. de la O in aggressively and successfully litigating a wide variety of matters, in both State and Federal Court, involving extremely complicated commercial relationships and cutting-edge legal issues. His experience includes representing high profile clients, such as an assignee for the benefit of the creditors of a large South Florida Internet mortgage company in a well-publicized action against the company’s directors and its venture capitalist financiers. He successfully represented a leading Internet diamond retailer in litigation to protect the company’s right to use its Internet address, and also an inventor in litigation designed to reacquire the rights to a valuable invention. Mr. Leyton has significant experience in civil rights litigation, representing both plaintiffs and defendants in lawsuits alleging a violation of federal constitutional rights.

Mr. Leyton is a graduate of the University of Miami, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1990, and his law degree, with honors, in 1995. In law school, he served as the Editor-in-Chief of the University of Miami Business Law Review, and was elected to the University of Miami School of Law Bar and Gavel Honor Society, as well as the national leadership honor society, Omicron Delta Kappa, and the national honor society for graduate and professional school students, Alpha Epsilon Lambda.

A member of the Florida Bar, Mr. Leyton is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. He lives in Coral Gables with his wife, Vanessa, and their daughter. He maintains an active life beyond his day-to-day practice, including his work as a volunteer with the Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic organization, a national educational library for persons with print disabilities.
